Low Blood Sugar – Symptoms, Causes and Home Remedies

Low blood sugar happens when blood glucose drops to a certain point and the suffered person becomes disordered and dazed. Though this low blood varies from person to person, but still medical professionals are agree that any blood sugar level below 70 mg/dl is considered low.

Low Blood Sugar Symptoms:
"Frequent blood glucose monitoring is the best way to prevent symptoms of low blood sugar," says Dr. Evelyn Crayton, a foods and nutrition specialist with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. She further says, "It's not wise to wait for symptoms of low sugar to appear to occur. Too often, these reactions occur with little or no warning,"

Low Blood Sugar Perceptible Symptoms:

  • Blurred vision
  • Headache
  • Trembling
  • Increased heart beat
  • Hunger pangs
  • Sweating
  • Loss of consciousness


Low Blood Sugar Causes:

  • Glucose is utilised rapidly
  • Glucose is released too slowly in the blood
  • High insulin level in the body
  • Skipping meals
  • Excessive alcohol consumption


Treating Low Blood Sugar:

"Never use diet drinks, insulin or sugar-free candy to combat low blood glucose levels, says Crayton. “They provide no benefit and anything containing aspertame actually slows the absorption of sugar. Candy bars with chocolate or nuts also should not be used because they work too slowly. Their high fat content slows absorption of sugars in the blood."

"Milk is particularly good," says Crayton, "because it contains a simple sugar, lactose and proteins. These foods help prevent hypoglycemia from reoccuring."


Natural Home Remedy Using Licorice Powder:

  1. Take 1 cup hot water
  2. Add 1 tsp licorice powder
  3. Mix well
  4. Drink when lukewarm
  5. Drink 2 times a day

Natural Home Remedy Using Cashew Nuts and Honey:

  1. Take 1 glass lukewarm water
  2. Add 2 crushed cashew nuts
  3. Add 1 tsp honey
  4. Mix well
  5. Drink every night


Tips:

  • Eat 6-7 tomatoes every day
  • Eat 2 unpeeled apples every day
